Editorial Policy

Our mission

Earthly News publishes reporting, analysis, explainers, reviews, and commentary about technology, digital services, global events, sports, culture, and issues relevant to our readers. We aim to make complex subjects understandable while giving readers enough context to assess the information for themselves.
Our editorial work should be guided by accuracy, fairness, independence, clarity, respect, and accountability.

Accuracy and verification

We make reasonable efforts to verify important facts before publication. Depending on the subject, this may include checking:
•Official records and statements
•Primary documents and original research
•Government, regulatory, academic, and institutional sources
•Direct interviews or statements from relevant people and organizations
•Reputable news organizations and specialist publications
•Product documentation and official company materials
We distinguish, where appropriate, between verified facts, reported claims, analysis, opinion, estimates, and allegations. When a fact cannot be independently confirmed, the article should say so clearly.
Content involving health, medicine, law, finance, public safety, elections, or other high-impact subjects requires particular care. Earthly News does not present general information as individualized professional advice.

Independence

Editorial decisions should not be influenced by advertisers, sponsors, affiliate commissions, free products, personal relationships, or other commercial interests. Advertisers and sponsors do not receive the right to approve or alter independent editorial coverage unless the content is explicitly identified as sponsored or paid content.
Earthly News does not promise favorable coverage in exchange for payment, products, access, or any other benefit.
If a writer, editor, or contributor has a relevant personal, financial, professional, or family interest in a subject, that conflict should be disclosed to the editor and addressed transparently. Where appropriate, the person may be removed from the assignment.

Fairness and right of reply

We try to represent relevant viewpoints fairly, especially when an article contains serious criticism, allegations, or disputes. When practical, we contact the person or organization criticized and give them a reasonable opportunity to respond before publication.
A response may be included in the original article or linked as an update. A lack of response should not be presented as agreement.

Headlines, images, and presentation

Headlines, summaries, images, captions, and social descriptions should accurately reflect the article. We should not use a misleading headline, altered context, or image that falsely suggests a person or event is connected to a story.
Illustrations, stock images, generated images, file photos, and images supplied by third parties should be labeled or captioned when readers could otherwise misunderstand their origin or connection to the story.

Artificial intelligence and automated tools

Technology, including artificial intelligence tools, may be used for limited assistance such as brainstorming, transcription, translation, formatting, research organization, or copy editing. Human editors remain responsible for the accuracy, originality, fairness, and final approval of published work.
AI-generated text or images must not be published as verified reporting without human review and fact-checking. We do not knowingly publish fabricated quotations, invented sources, or unsupported claims. Where the use of generated material could affect a reader’s understanding, we will disclose it.

Originality and attribution

Earthly News expects contributors to produce original work. We do not knowingly publish plagiarized material, copied articles, fabricated reporting, or unattributed substantial passages from another source.
Quotes, statistics, ideas, data, images, and material obtained from other sources should be attributed and linked when appropriate. Copyrighted material is not reproduced beyond what is legally permitted and editorially necessary.

Author transparency

Articles should identify the responsible individual author when applicable. Author pages may describe a writer’s role, subjects covered, and selected work. We do not publish unsupported claims about an author’s education, qualifications, experience, awards, or employment history.
When an article is produced by more than one person or by the editorial team, a collective byline may be used, but it should not be used to conceal the responsible author where an individual byline is reasonably possible.

Updates and timestamps

Articles may be updated to correct errors, add relevant information, improve clarity, or reflect significant developments. Material changes should be identified with an update note where appropriate. Publication dates and update dates should be accurate.

Reader feedback

Readers can report errors, request clarification, or raise concerns by emailing . We review credible concerns and make corrections when warranted.
